Mission Statement
To raise: "State of the Emergency" funds to support Israel's efforts to decrease the prevalence of newly diagnosed cases of HIV/AIDS through education, prevention and counseling-testing referral services, as well as helping those living with HIV/AIDS cope with the psychosocial challenges associated with this disease
Currently over 5,000 Israeli citizens live with HIV/AIDS in Israel
- 70% are heterosexual men and women
- 23% live below the poverty level
- 18% are youth, 14-25 years old
- 5% are children 0-8 years old
"We have a problem in Israel with HIV/AIDS...nobody will pay attention to the AIDS issue," says Dr. Dan Turner, Director of the AIDS Center at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center.
